SeaArt / FIELD NOTES
Save a SeaArt image as PNG
PNG is useful when your editing or publishing tool expects that file format. Paste a public SeaArt artwork link, then select PNG if it appears as a conversion. If SeaArt already returns a PNG, the source download is the PNG you need.
A PNG made from a WebP image is a new encoding of the available image. It is not proof that an original generation file or a higher-resolution version has been retrieved.
Download your own work or content you have permission to save.
Read the source label before converting
The result identifies the source type after checking the returned media. For example, a WebP source button saves the public WebP file, while the PNG button creates a converted copy. When the source is already PNG, a separate PNG conversion is unnecessary and is not listed.
You may encounter advice to replace a SeaArt image URL ending in _high.webp with .png. This downloader does not use that substitution or verify an alternate master-file URL. Its source claim applies to the media URL returned for the artwork, so the result label is the useful guide to what you are actually saving.
| Result | What to choose | What you receive |
|---|---|---|
| PNG source | The source button | The PNG supplied for the artwork. |
| WebP source plus PNG | PNG for compatibility | A PNG converted from the returned WebP. |
| JPG source plus PNG | PNG if your workflow needs it | A PNG made from the returned JPG. |
| PNG conversion fails | Source, if available | The original returned format for conversion in your own editor. |
Convert and check the saved file
One conversion runs at a time across the service. A busy message means that processing capacity is occupied; repeating the request immediately does not help. Converted downloads are temporary and expire with their ten-minute job window. Resolve the artwork again if you return to an old result.
- Copy the public SeaArt artwork detail link and resolve it here.
- Confirm that the preview is the intended picture and note any displayed dimensions.
- Choose PNG and let the conversion finish before navigating away.
- Check your browser’s downloads, then open the saved file in the application you plan to use.
- Keep the source image and any recipe JSON separately if you need an archive as well as an editing copy.
What PNG changes about the image
PNG stores its resulting pixels losslessly. That does not reverse compression already present in the incoming file. A soft edge, small image, watermark or existing artifact remains part of the picture unless you edit it yourself.
The conversion does not intentionally enlarge the image or generate new visual detail. A bigger file can simply reflect a different way of storing the same image. Compare dimensions and inspect the picture at the size you intend to use; file size alone is a poor quality test.
Changing a filename extension from .webp to .png does not convert a file. Use the conversion result rather than renaming the source, so applications receive an actual PNG.
Save prompt information as its own file
The PNG download does not add a complete generation recipe to the image. If you want to preserve the public prompt or available model and seed information, use Prompt TXT and Recipe JSON from the same result.
Keep these companion files with a note of the original artwork URL. An empty or missing recipe field cannot be restored by choosing PNG instead of WebP. Model weights, LoRA files, editing layers and creator project files are outside this download workflow.
Questions about this guide
Will converting WebP to PNG improve resolution?
No. It changes the file encoding and can improve compatibility with an application, but it does not add image detail or recover a larger master file.
Why did the PNG download take longer than the source?
The service must fetch and process the source to create a PNG. A source download streams the existing file without that conversion step.
